Nintendo Sticks It To Patent Trolls

Another patent lawsuit against Nintendo has been dismissed.

Since the Wii’s rise in popularity, everyone seems to come out of the woodwork claiming that Nintendo has infringed on one of their patents. Like IA Labs, for example. The fitness company filed a lawsuit against Nintendo of America and Nintendo Japan, accusing every single Wii-related peripheral of violating their patents. A Maryland Court judge didn’t think so and dismissed the case.

“Nintendo has a passionate tradition of developing innovative products while respecting the intellectual property rights of others,” says Nintendo of America’s senior vice president of Legal & General Counsel Rick Flamm. “We vigorously defend patent lawsuits when we firmly believe that we have not infringed another party’s patent.”

He ends with the awesomest line I’ve read this week:

“We refuse to succumb to patent trolls.”

I want someone to take that line and create some sort of meme. Internet, make it happen!
