How Assassin’s Creed 3 Will Work on Wii U

Assassin's Creed 3 - Main Character

So that’s what the Tablet is for…

Nintendo fan site NintenGen posted some interesting tidbits of information regarding how Assassin’s Creed 3 will play on Wii U. Pulling from the latest issue of British magazine Nintendo Gamer, it was revealed that the Wii U’s Tablet controller will be used as a link between the player and the Assassin’s Creed Animus. Also sounds like it’ll help take away clutter on the HUD, as the Animus will act as a map and navigation tool.

In addition to being your Assassin’s OnStar, it is also your Encyclopedia Britannica. Details about characters and other need-to-know facts will be displayed on the Tablet, so as to not break up what’s happening on screen.

Wait! There’s more!

You can use the Tablet in battle, too: you’ll be able to cycle through your weapons, and switch between dual-wielding and single handed combat.

Finally, the Tablet serves as an alternative view for Eagle Vision. You can use the Tablet’s built-in accelerometer to control your view.

That’s a lot of functionality! I particularly like that it’ll act as an Encyclopedia. It means that if you have to give up the TV for whatever reason, you’ll be able to catch up with all your historical facts.

There’s yet to be an official release date for the Wii U version of Assassin’s Creed 3. The PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions will be out October 30th of this year.
