FANDEMONIUM!: Speed Run — Ghosts ‘N Goblins (NES)

FANDEMONIUM-Ghosts 'n Goblins

There’s only two difficulty levels for Ghosts ‘n Goblins: Hard and Kill Your NES mode.  But this runner makes it look easy!

Ah, Friday. Time for another episode of FANDEMONIUM!, where we do everything we can to deliver a happy end.

Today’s speed run is a classic; one that made many of us cry. Hard:

Ghosts ‘n Goblins.

Charging through the countryside, exploring caverns, and all sorts of other nasty places, Sir Arthur must save  Princess Prin-Prin from the evil Astaroth. Besides giving people a taste of pain, the game also introduced us to Red Demon. Why’s that a big deal? We’ll eventually meet one named Firebrand, the anti-hero who’ll go on to star in his own games, including Demon’s Crest.

Ah, Ghosts ‘n Goblins. The very name send shivers down my spine. This game was one of the many that defined Nintendo Hard. And it makes me cry. Well, not as much as it used to thanks to this speed run.

Daniel ‘Kareshi’ Brown went through the entire game not once, but twice, to get the best ending. And did so in about 22 minutes.
