A speed run of a videogame based on a movie that’s actually good! Check out Willow for the NES!
Welcome to FANDEMONIUM!, where we love to see movie-based videogames that aren’t horrible.
Willow came out in theatres in 1988 and starred a dwarf named Willow. He sets out to protect Elora Danan, a baby girl who is destined to overthrow the evil Queen Bavmorda. It was a charming lil’ movie that grossed about $57,269,863 (according to IMDb).
Capcom, who were truly on their A-Game back then, got the OK from Lucasfilm to create a videogame based on the movie for the NES that follows the story of the film in an action-RPG. And the result was this awesome game.
Speed runner Marc J. ‘Emptyeye’ Dziezynski played through Willow in one shot, finishing the game in an hour and a half.
Be sure to check out Speed Demos Archive for more speed runs!
