Japanese release date for Dragon’s Crown confirmed; comes with bonus art book!
Oh my God, Dragon’s Crown. Oh my God, DRAGON’S CROWN!
You guys already know how hyped I am for this game. The poor thing’s had quite the bumpy ride; changing publishing hands from the troubled Ignition Games to Atlus. Updates regarding the game have been rather spread out, but at least we knew it was in good hands.
Now we have a brand spanking new trailer (dancing mice and all), full of sparkly goodness and the same sexy artwork we’d come love from Vanillaware. Not only that, but the trailer revealed that Dragon’s Crown will come out in Japan on July 25th for PlayStation 3 and Vita.
But wait! There’s more!
The game will come with a bonus 64-paged Hardcover Art Book (I’m guessing this is limited to first print copies), featuring art not only by Vanillaware artists, but from guest artists, too (all of whom, coincidentally enough, worked at Capcom at some point in their careers)! There will be some tribute art done by Kinu Nishimura (ya might recognize her work from recent games like 999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors and Code of Princess), Akira Yasuda (Street Fighter Alpha 2 & 3; Darkstalkers), and…
Bengus. Oh my God, BENGUS! As a young Minee, I was a HUGE fan of Bengus’s work! Hell, I still am!
I need this game. And this art book. Goddamnit.
So yea, enjoy the trailer! No word yet for the North American and European release date, but we know it’ll come out sometime later this year.
